Alexandria Film Festival Announces Filmmakers For “HomeGrown: American Stories in Music and Film”

The Alexandria Film Festival has partnered with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra for their joint project, HomeGrown: American Stories in Music and Film. They have announced the six filmmakers that have been selected to participate in this project. The films will accompany music by American composers performed “live to picture” by the orchestra as part of ASO’s 2020-2021 season on Nov. 7 and 8. The works will also be screened as part of the Alexandria Film Festival Nov. 12-15. New Mobile App Launched By Alexandria For City Services

A new mobile app, Alex311, has been launched by Alexandria, Virginia. This new mobile app enables users to request municipal services as the city works to improve its response to community issues. When the city receives a request, such as for repairing a pothole, it will send an email with a summary of the action that needs to be taken and the expected date the issue will be tended to. But the city said that the app isn’t for emergencies. Call or text 911 for immediate police, fire or emergency medical assistance.
